Pay the school securely. Instructors are paid only as lessons are delivered.
No trainee PDI learning on you — every instructor is fully DVSA approved.
Log lessons, track DVSA skills and know exactly how test-ready you are.
Across the UK, a growing number of large driving schools fill their diaries with PDIs — potential driving instructors still working towards qualification, whose training fees are a revenue stream for the school. PASS-UK has made a deliberate decision not to do this.
Every instructor you learn with holds a green badge — a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor who has passed all three qualifying exams and is checked on their standard.
Many national schools now teach with PDIs (trainees on a pink licence) because they earn money from training them. Only around a third of candidates pass the ADI Part 3 instructional ability test — so roughly two in three trainees never qualify, and their pupils carry that risk.
We make our money teaching learners to drive, not selling instructor training courses. That keeps our only incentive simple: get you test-ready safely and efficiently.
A trainee who fails their exams has to stop teaching, leaving pupils mid-course. With a qualified ADI, your lessons and your progress keep moving.
DVSA figures put the ADI Part 3 pass rate at roughly a third of tests taken — meaning about two thirds of trainee instructors fail, and may have to stop teaching part-way through a pupil's course. See the official DVSA ADI qualifying test data.
Book with a qualified ADIAn Approved Driving Instructor who has passed all three DVSA qualifying exams. This is what every PASS-UK instructor displays.
A potential driving instructor still working towards qualification, on a temporary trainee licence. They are legally allowed to charge, but they are still learning to teach.
Charging for driving lessons without a DVSA badge on display is against the law. Do not get in the car, and do not hand over any money.
You are entitled to know who is teaching you. Run through these four checks with any school before you pay for a course of lessons.
Every instructor charging for lessons must display their DVSA badge in the front windscreen. It is the fastest, most reliable check you can make — before you even get in the car.
"Will my lessons be taught by a fully qualified ADI, or a PDI trainee?" A school that uses trainees will usually admit it if asked outright. Get the answer in writing by email or message.
A qualified instructor has an ADI certificate number on their badge. Ask for it before you pay, and ask which name it is registered to.
If a trainee fails their qualifying test they must stop teaching. Ask what happens to your remaining hours and who takes over your course.
Badges must be on display for all paid driving lessons. If there is no badge in the windscreen, the lesson is not legal — walk away and report it to the DVSA.

Every lesson starts with a proper briefing, works through the DVSA Ready to Pass? record and finishes with feedback you can actually use. No rushing, no jargon — just structured coaching in a modern, dual-controlled car.
Book your first lessonMost learners are asked to pay their instructor in cash, or bank transfer hundreds of pounds up front to a stranger. With PASS-UK you pay the driving school — and the school protects your money until every hour is taught.
You never hand money to someone you've just met. Every payment goes through the school on a secure, encrypted checkout.
We release payment to your instructor as lessons are actually delivered — so your unused hours always stay protected by the school.
Paid for 10 hours and only had 4? The remaining balance sits with PASS-UK, not in an instructor's pocket.
If anything goes wrong we re-allocate you to another instructor and carry your remaining hours across. No awkward conversations, no lost money.
Real students. Real passes. From intensive courses with National Intensive to weekly lessons with PASS-UK — celebrating every success across the UK.

Every paid learner gets their own progress app. No more guessing whether you're "nearly ready" — your instructor updates your record after each lesson and you can see it the moment you get home.
One honest number showing how close you are to test standard — 100% means you're driving like a test candidate.
Junctions, roundabouts, crossings, manoeuvres and weather conditions — each rated 1 to 5 by your instructor, lesson by lesson.
